Course Description

This 3-hour version of our full-day Introduction class is designed for the user who desires a fast pace with less time spent on practice exercises. Participants will learn the basics necessary to create, save, and edit worksheets and perform calculations.

Course Topics

  • Work with menus and shortcut menus

  • Add or remove toolbar buttons

  • Display or hide a toolbar and a task pane

  • Rename, insert, move, copy, and delete a sheet

  • Use the Undo and Redo commands     

  • Create, save, close, and open a workbook

  • Navigate using the mouse and keyboard           

  • Use the Go To command         

  • Enter formulas and functions

  • Use the AutoSum, AutoComplete, and AutoFill features

  • Resize columns and rows         

  • Change a cell reference in a formula to absolute

  • Format numbers

  • Insert and delete cells, rows, and columns        

  • Hide and unhide columns and rows

  • Move, copy, and paste worksheet data

  • Split a window and freeze panes

  • Merge and center cells

  • Align and indent cell contents

  • Wrap text within a cell and rotate cell contents

  • Apply cell borders and change cell fill color or pattern

  • Use Format Painter and AutoFormat

  • Create and edit styles

  • Create, view, print, and delete comments

  • Use Print preview and Page Break Preview

  • Create headers and footers      

  • Change margins and page orientation

  • Center data on a page

  • Insert and remove a page break

  • Scale a worksheet

  • Check spelling and print data

  • Exit Excel
