Course Description

This class is designed for the user who is new to creating presentations using PowerPoint. Participants will learn how to create a variety of slides that incorporate text, images, and other objects. During class, on-screen slide shows will be discussed and created. The full day format allows sufficient time for discussion and hands-on practice designed to build confidence with the program.

Course Topics

• Work with the Ribbon & ScreenTips

• Execute commands using the Ribbon, Office button, shortcut menus, and KeyTips

• Move & customize the Quick Access toolbar

• Create slides using built-in layouts

• Add a bulleted list to a slide

• Use the Autofit options button

• Move or resize a placeholder

• Move from slide to slide

• Change views, order of slides, zoom, and slide layout

• Duplicate and delete slides

• Add speaker notes

• View a slide show

• Save, close, & open presentations

• Use the Outline tab

• Select text and objects

• Edit, insert, replace, and delete text

• Use undo, redo, repeat, move, & copy

• Use the Paste Options button

• Use the Autocorrect Options button

• Create, insert, & delete an AutoCorrect entry

• Spell check and find a synonym

• Format text using the Ribbon, “Font” dialog box, mini toolbar, & “Paragraph” dialog box

• Modify bullets and numbers

• Insert, move, and delete a shape

• Display drawing guides & grid

• Resize, reshape, flip, rotate, & duplicate a shape

• Format shapes and use format painter

• Change the stacking order

• Use the selection pane

• Align or distribute shapes evenly

• Group, ungroup, and regroup shapes

• Insert clip art and WordArt

• Insert and format a picture

• Create and modify tables and charts

• Choose a predefined theme

• Change theme colors, fonts, and effects

• Add headers and footers to slides

• Work with slide master(s)

• Reposition slide headers and footers

• Change formatting on a slide master or layout master

• Add text & a graphic element to a slide master

• Apply & remove preset animations

• Add slide transitions

• Use the slide show toolbar & help

• Change page setup options

• Preview and print slides, handouts, speaker notes, or outlines
