Course Description

In this 2-day course, participants will create and manage different aspects of a project using Microsoft Project 2003. Participants will learn how to create projects, enter tasks, organize schedules, assign task relationships, add resources, customize calendars, and assign costs to tasks and resources. Once the project has begun, participants will learn how to manage a project plan by using calendars, evaluating and adjusting time, resource, and cost factors; and tracking progress.

  • Change working time for the project calendar

  • Specify nonworking time for a project

  • Create and edit tasks

  • Link and unlink tasks

  • Change task relationships

  • Insert, delete, and move tasks

  • Apply lag time, lead time, and constraints

  • Display the project summary task and outline numbers

  • Create a resource list and

  • Assign resources to tasks

  • Contour work assignments

  • Attach a text box or object to a task

  • Apply a table to a view

  • Modify the calendar for a resource

  • Specify the availability of a resource

  • Create a new base calendar

  • Assign a base calendar to a resource and to a task

  • Adjust and level resources and clear leveling

  • Split a task

  • Assign costs to a resource

  • Create and assign a fixed-cost material resource
